A man is facing charges in connection with a series of alleged voyeuristic incidents in Sydney’s Inner West.

Detectives initiated a dedicated strike force on August 25 to delve into multiple peep and pry offences reported in the area. These unsettling events have kept the community on edge, with authorities investigating the disturbing pattern of behavior.

Between May 18 and October 21, police responded to calls from a residence on Harnett Avenue in Marrickville. Residents reported five separate incidents occurring during the early morning hours, where a woman would hear a man trying to engage her in conversation through her window. Despite their prompt arrival, officers found that the man had already evaded capture each time.

A similar episode unfolded at around 3:30 a.m. on June 21 at a home on Livingstone Road in Marrickville. Again, police were summoned after a woman reported a man allegedly attempting to converse with her through a window. The suspect once more made his escape before law enforcement could intervene.

About 3.30am on Saturday June 21, police were called to a home in Livingstone Road in Marrickville, following reports of a man allegedly attempting to speak to a female through the window.

The man fled the scene before police arrived.

About 1.30am on Tuesday 21 October, investigators were surveilling Hartnett Street in Marrickville when they allegedly observed a man walking along the footpath of Hartnett Street before he entered the front of a home and allegedly peered through a window of the house.

Police attempted to speak to the man before he fled.

Officers arrested a 64-year-old man in a nearby car park.

The man was taken to Newtown Police Station.

He was charged with seven counts of peep or pry, damaging property, custody of a knife in a public place, and resisting police officers in the execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear in court on Thursday October 3, after he was granted conditional bail to appear at Newtown Local Court on Tuesday, 4 November.
