Authorities have successfully dismantled an illicit drug distribution network in St Kilda, following the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of cocaine valued at $35,000 from his residence.

The investigation into the suspected cocaine trafficking began in May after Crime Stoppers received multiple anonymous tips.

Early Thursday morning at approximately 5:30 am, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on St Kilda Road in St Kilda.

Senior Constable Tom Garside commented, “The allure of a lifestyle financed by drug trafficking might seem enticing, but the repercussions of being apprehended are not.”

During the search, police discovered a significant amount of cocaine, estimated to have a street value of $35,000.

In addition to the cocaine, officers seized MDMA, cannabis, cash, and various electronic devices.

The 25-year-old has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing cocaine, MDMA and cannabis, and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.

“Trafficking drugs will leave a smear against your name for the rest of your life; a criminal record will follow you to any job interview, relationships and friendships and will cost you far more than just the money gained from your offending.

“We thank the members of the community who provided police with key information via anonymous tip-offs and encourage anyone who has any inkling that a crime may have taken place to also make a report.”

He was bailed to appear in court in May next year.
