The Victorian Supreme Court has made public the footage of an interview with Erin Patterson, who is accused of a triple murder following a deadly mushroom meal.

The mother-of-two was taken to Wonthaggi police station on August 5, 2023 after police searched her Leongatha home and seized evidence.

This interview, conducted by Detective Leading Senior Constable Steven Eppingstall, took place after the deaths of Gail Patterson and Heather Wilkinson in the hospital, and just prior to Don Patterson’s passing.

“‘Cause I, my parents are both gone.

“My grandparents are all gone, they’re the only family that I’ve got.

During the interview, Erin expressed, “They are the only grandparents my children have, and keeping them in my kids’ lives is crucial to me, despite Simon’s disapproval of my ongoing relationship with his parents.”

In the interview, Patterson also says she “never” foraged for mushrooms.

When she was on the stand during her trial, she then admitted that she had foraged for them previously.

The release of this interview coincides with the unveiling of previously suppressed trial evidence, which includes claims that Erin attempted to poison Simon Patterson using foods such as toxic penne pasta and cookies infused with rat poison and antifreeze.
