A shark has knocked a paddler into the water after taking a chunk out of her surf ski just off a Western Australian beach.

The shark, reportedly up to five metres long, was spotted in waters near Cheynes Beach Caravan Park just before 8am today, according to Sharksmart WA.

The woman was 100 metres offshore when the shark bit into her surf ski, knocking her into the water. She is not reported to have suffered any injuries.

Cheynes Beach will remain closed for 24 hours.
