Tawhai Walker Loughlin turned 18 just two months ago but could now face life behind bars.
The community have been laying flowers on on Great Northern Highway after the 33-year-old dad was found in his car with stab wounds on Thursday night.
The alleged attack was apparently witnessed by his young son.
The man was rushed to hospital but nothing could be done.
Today, police were back at a second crime scene, which remains cordoned off two days after the alleged attack, scouring the house one street away.
It’s here neighbours say a man was arrested, found hiding in a backyard. Though it’s still unclear if, or how, the two locations are connected.
Police initially questioned three people before charging one with murder overnight.
Loughlin today faced court in Northbridge.
Acquaintances were seen crying in the back of the court room as Magistrate Anne Longden told the Midland teenager “this is a very serious charge here”.
Loughlin walked into the dock wearing a white shirt and black pants, with the 18-year-old’s brief appearance lasting around a minute.
He asked the magistrate, “is that it”, as he was led away.
The teen will remain behind bars and is due to face court again at the end of the month.
