Tragedy struck in Sydney’s west as a man faces charges following the alleged fatal stabbing of his father last night.
Authorities were alerted to an incident on Clouta Place in Emu Plains around 6:45 p.m. yesterday.
Witnesses shared videos on social media depicting a substantial emergency response, including numerous police vehicles, ambulances, and a police helicopter.
According to NSW Police, officers discovered a 58-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his upper body upon their arrival.
Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 30-year-old man, identified as the deceased’s son, was apprehended at the location and subsequently taken to Penrith police station.
He has been charged with one count of domestic violence murder, police said this morning.
He was refused bail and will appear in court today.
Police said there was a history of domestic violence allegations, however, there were no reports in the past few years.
Residents told 9News that the family have been living at the home for more than 40 years.
“[It is] a quiet street, you would never think something like this would occur here,” a resident said.
“There were no indications that something like this would occur up there.”
“I can’t say I would have expected something like this.”
