An elderly man and woman have been found dead in what is believed to be a murder-suicide at a home in Melbourne.

Police were called to a home on Kaye Court in Dandenong North just before 1.30pm, where they found a deceased woman inside the house.

She is yet to be formally identified.

A critically injured man was found outside the house, in the driveway, where emergency services commenced medical treatment.

He also died at the scene.

It is believed the pair were known to each other and had lived at the home for quite some time.

9News understands they were aged in their 80s.

Police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths but say there was no history of family violence.

Investigators are not searching for anyone else in relation to the incident at this stage.
