A man has died after crashing his bike at a skate park in Adelaide on what witnesses say was his first day of riding.

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 27-year-old man from Pooraka, who passed away in the hospital following the incident.

Sam Inwood succumbed to his injuries after an accident that occurred last week, leaving his community in mourning.

Those who knew him remember Inwood as a compassionate and thoughtful individual. Witnesses to the accident are now emphasizing the critical importance of seeking immediate medical attention in similar situations.

Robert Lonie, present at the Golden Grove skate park, recounted the moment when Inwood fell from his BMX bike around 2 p.m. on Thursday.

“I don’t think he realized the severity of his injuries,” Lonie remarked.

“We moved him into the shade and checked to see if he was okay,” he added.

The victim took himself to hospital the following day before passing away in care.

“His friend had told me he had only just started riding that day, so I think it’s a culmination of inexperience, a big impact and then not doing anything about that injury,” Lonie said.

Heartbroken friends remembered Inwood as a kind, gentle and caring person willing to help anyone.

Witnesses say the tragedy is a stark warning to take every possible precaution when it comes to safety and health.
