A man has died and another is fighting for life after the pair were involved in a construction site accident in Carlingford.

Paramedics were called to a Meriton construction site on Pennant Hills Road in Carlingford in Sydney’s north-west this morning.

They found two men, one in his 30s and one in his 40s, suffering serious injuries after a concrete pump had fallen on the pair.

The man in his 30s was transported to Royal North Shore Hospital, whilst the other was taken to Westmead Hospital. Both were in a critical condition.

“It is with great sorrow that we confirm a tragic event took place at our Carlingford construction site around 9am earlier today,” Meriton announced in a statement.

“Our hearts go out to their families, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.

“We are cooperating fully with SafeWork NSW and the relevant authorities as investigations are underway to understand how this incident occurred.”

NSW Police confirmed investigations were ongoing.

“A crime scene has been established and investigations have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” they said in a statement.

“The incident has been referred to SafeWork NSW.”
