'I'll be the one': Trump hints at next US takeover

The president frequently clashes with members of his own party, but his latest confrontation with Congress could prove to be his most challenging battle yet.

The controversy stems from his proposed $2.48 billion compensation fund, intended for allies he claims were unjustly targeted by the previous administration.

This new conflict erupted when the Republican-controlled Senate unexpectedly halted the funding bill for the president’s recent immigration enforcement initiative.

According to The New York Times, this decision was a direct response to the president’s announcement of the substantial compensation fund earlier in the week.

As a result, funding for the immigration crackdown is likely to remain in limbo as lawmakers take a week-long recess.

“While the measure might be revisited once Congress reconvenes, the delay highlights the strained relationship between the White House and the Republican-led Congress, especially with the midterm elections just months away,” reported the Times.

But it’s not all bluff and bluster from the media.

Republican Senator majority leader John Thune (pictured below) admitted the president’s political moves triggered the chaos that was unfolding.

“It’s hard to divorce anything that happens here from what’s happening in the political atmosphere around us,” Thune told reporters today.
