On Monday, the Trump administration escalated tensions with Denmark by halting leases for five major offshore wind projects along the US East Coast. These include two projects under development by Orsted, a company largely owned by the Danish government.
Greenland’s strategic position places it directly on the shortest missile trajectory between Russia and the United States, enhancing its geopolitical significance.
In a move to strengthen its Arctic defense, Denmark unveiled a $2 billion plan to enhance military capabilities in the region this January.
“Suddenly, there is a designated US presidential envoy who claims his mission is to take over Greenland. Naturally, this is entirely unacceptable,” Rasmussen expressed to TV2.
Diplomatic tensions escalate
“Out of nowhere, there is now a special US presidential representative, who, according to himself, is tasked with taking over Greenland. This is, of course, completely unacceptable,” Rasmussen told TV2.
