The incident reportedly unfolded on May 1, when the suspects tried to enter Kuwaiti waters aboard a fishing vessel. Their entry was met with resistance from Kuwaiti soldiers, resulting in a confrontation that left one soldier injured, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Should these allegations hold true, this would represent the first documented military infiltration attempt by Iran into a neighboring country amid ongoing regional tensions. KUNA has identified the arrested individuals, providing details on their military ranks, which underscores the seriousness of the situation.

In a statement, Kuwait’s interior ministry revealed that the arrested individuals confessed to having been dispatched by the IRGC. Their mission allegedly involved infiltrating Bubiyan Island, a strategic commercial and logistics hub, with plans to carry out hostile operations against Kuwait.

However, the Iranian government has refuted these claims, issuing a denial through a statement released by the semi-official Tasnim news agency. The situation remains tense as both countries navigate the diplomatic fallout from this incident.

The Iranian government denied the reports in a statement published by semi-official news agency Tasnim.
