Police unearth 300 pounds of illegal marijuana in NYC building

Law Enforcement Uncovers 300 Pounds of Illicit Marijuana in New York City Building

While executing an eviction order at a Bronx property on Tuesday, police made a surprising discovery of several hundred pounds of illicit cannabis.

Members of the Joint Compliance Task Force, affiliated with the New York City Sheriff’s Office, arrived at the Pelham Parkway South location around 12:30 p.m. to carry out the eviction, according to the Department of Finance.

During their operation, officers uncovered an astonishing 300 pounds of marijuana plants, 147 THC flowers, and an elaborate array of cultivation equipment, officials reported.

Dramatic photographs show officers, clad in masks and gloves, transporting numerous bundles of marijuana out of the residence and inspecting neatly arranged plant beds.

The huge raid took place while the property was unoccupied, and no arrests were immediately made.

“Illegal cannabis operations pose a threat to public safety and jeopardize legitimate businesses,” a Department of Finance spokesperson stated in a release to The Post.

A person over age 21 can grow up to three mature and three immature cannabis plants at any one time. But, no residence can have more than six mature and six immature plants, according to the New York Office of Cannabis Management.

You must apply for a license from the OCM to sell cannabis, according to the NYC311 website.
