Popular Bay Area NBC sports host announces surprise exit from station

NBC Sports Bay Area is saying goodbye to another well-known on-air personality.

Carlos Ramirez announced Sunday that he is departing the regional sports network after four and a half years, becoming the latest notable figure to leave the outlet in 2026.

“It’s hard to put into words what the past four and a half years meant to me,” Ramirez wrote in a post on X.

“I had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream, working alongside some of the most talented people in sports media, and calling the Bay Area home.”

Ramirez first became a familiar part of the network’s San Francisco Giants pregame and postgame shows, before his responsibilities expanded in recent years when he moved into the lead hosting role for San Francisco 49ers studio coverage.

After joining the network full time in 2022, he also contributed to its coverage of the Sacramento Kings and the Athletics.

Ramirez built a reputation for bilingual reporting, often interviewing Spanish-speaking athletes as part of NBC Sports Bay Area broadcasts.

His LinkedIn profile also lists him as a play-by-play announcer for the San Jose Earthquakes and for Major League Soccer coverage on Apple TV.

Although he did not reveal where he is headed next, Ramirez hinted that another opportunity is already lined up.

“A new chapter begins and I can’t wait to share more about it with all of you very soon,” he wrote.

Ramirez’s final appearance on the network came during the Athletics’ postgame show alongside Shooty Babbitt.

His departure comes just months after fellow NBC Sports Bay Area personality Laura Britt also left the network.

Britt announced her exit in March 2026 before signing off in May, ending an eight-year tenure as the lead anchor and primary pregame and postgame host for Giants coverage. She said she was relocating to Atlanta to be closer to her family.

With Ramirez gone, NBC Sports Bay Area’s remaining full-time studio hosts include Kylen Mills, who handles Giants coverage, and Bonta Hill, the network’s multiplatform host covering the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers and Giants.
