A motorist has had a lucky escape after spotting one of the world’s deadliest Red-bellied black snake pop its head out of her car’s glove box while she drove down a busy motorway.

The driver was heading down the Logan Motorway in Brisbane last month during peak hour traffic when she caught sight of the 1.5m long red-bellied black snake.

Despite being just inches away from the deadly reptile, the woman calmly pulled over to the side of the motorway and trapped the snake underneath a bag.

Snake catcher, Allan Johnson, from Allan’s Snake and Reptile Relocation rushed to the scene but it took the expert half an hour to remove the venomous reptile.

Sharing a video of the horrifying encounter, Mr Johnson said the woman quickly pulled over after noticing the snake was ‘moving towards her leg’.

‘It was a race against time to get the snake out from behind the glovebox,’ he said.

‘The snake was finally released back into the bush after about 30 minutes of working him out of the vehicle.

‘This was a call I will never forget!’

Mr Johnson told the Courier Mail the woman spotted the deadly snake in her car a few days earlier.
