Comedian Carrot Top 'hospitalized after suicide attempt' in Las Vegas

Carrot Top has been hospitalized in Las Vegas, Nevada, following what TMZ described as a suicide attempt.

The 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, reportedly attempted to take his own life Friday, just hours before he was scheduled to perform at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

According to sources, the incident occurred in the Las Vegas area and Thompson was taken to a nearby hospital. His scheduled comedy show was later canceled.

Jami Schlicher, Thompson’s representative, did not confirm the reported circumstances surrounding his hospitalization. She said instead that the comedian is receiving “the care and support he needs.”

“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern and prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” Schlicher told TMZ.

Our News Outlet has contacted Thompson’s representatives for additional comment as the story develops.

Thompson’s most recent social media post was shared Thursday and promoted his performance scheduled for Friday.

He shared a 2018 poster showing himself beside an orange utility terrain vehicle, captioning the image, “Just your average Thursday commute to the Luxor. TBT.”

After news of his hospitalization emerged, fans filled the post’s comments with messages of support and concern.

“You’re loved more than you know. You’re special & the world is more beautiful with you in it. Sending love & hope your way,” one person wrote.

Another commenter said, “Scott we love you dude. Praying for you. ❤️”

A third fan added, “Just heard sad news. Hope you’re gonna be OK dude. Saw you last December and plan on bringing another friend next trip to LV to see you again. You are hella adored and hope you really know that. Truth.”

Thompson, who is known for his energetic prop-based routines, rose to fame during the 1990s.

Nearly a year ago, in November 2025, fans expressed concern after he was seen looking disheveled at a grocery store in Las Vegas.

An insider later told Our News Outlet, “He didn’t ever think he was going to be photographed shopping, so he let his guard down – [he was] not in any makeup or anything.”

In a 2022 interview with Metal Life Magazine, Thompson spoke about his clean lifestyle.

He insisted, ‘I’m completely sober. I don’t smoke marijuana and I never have. I don’t think I have been drunk since high school, literally.

‘I have friends like Gene Simmons, he’s never had a drop of booze – zero. I’m not that pure. I definitely have a little Crown on the rocks right before a show.’

After a show, he said he comes home, watches TV and has a ‘glass of red wine.’

‘I’m definitely not the drug guy. I’m actually more of a nerd than anything else,’ he told the outlet.
