Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman is RUSHED to hospital after overdose

Cher’s troubled son Elijah Blue Allman reportedly overdosed in Southern California over the weekend.

A source has informed TMZ that the legendary artist’s youngest son, aged 48, whom she had with the late Gregg Allman, ‘was urgently taken to the hospital in Joshua Tree, California, after experiencing an overdose early on Saturday morning.’

The outlet also reported that it is unknown ‘what drugs he was using’ and that he is ‘receiving the best care possible.’

The insider added Allman is ‘very lucky to have survived.’

At this time, his mother is focused on ‘doing everything she can to get him the help he needs’ and only concerned for her son’s well-being.

Daily Mail has contacted Cher’s representatives for comment.

Back in 2014, Allman revealed he began using drugs, like weed and ecstasy, at just 11 and detailed some close calls when it came to overdosing.

‘I was trying to escape the memories of my past, which is often why one turns to substances like heroin and opiates,’ he shared with ET. ‘[Heroin] sort of rescued me… Without it at that time, I’m uncertain what my actions would have been… You might contemplate tragic decisions. If you manage to endure that period and survive it, then help can be sought.’

Allman also revealed he had ‘some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality.’

‘I always attempted to maintain a bit of caution, but it’s impossible to truly ensure safety,’ he explained. ‘Even with that mindset, things can go awry. The wrong mix of circumstances can occur, leading you into darkness. I realized it was a hazardous path, and I was extremely discontent with life at that juncture.’

The Oscar winner filed for a temporary sole conservatorship over Elijah’s finances in 2023,  arguing  he suffered from ‘severe mental health and substance abuse issues.’

‘Any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk,’ the court documents read.

Cher withdrew the request in September 2024, nine months after he had filed court documents stating he was sober and had been attending AA-type meetings.

Allman’s father, Gregg, suffered from substance abuse issues which doctors believe lead to his death from liver cancer in 2012.

His late uncle Duane Allman also struggled with drugs before being killed in a motorcycle accident in 1971.

Allman’s reported overdose comes after he was seen looking very sunburned, sweaty and disoriented outside the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles in May.

He is currently going through a divorce from his estranged wife, Marieangela King.

She has cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ and requested he pay $6,000 per month in temporary spousal support.
