'Harry Potter' actress Evanna Lynch joins Disney's anime-inspired 'Dragon Striker' series

Disney introduces its latest creation, the brand-new series “Dragon Striker.”

“Dragon Striker” is a captivating sports fantasy series set in a European-inspired world, drawing heavily from the stylistic elements of Japanese animation.

The series features an impressive cast, including Akshay Kumar as Key, Rebecca LaChance as Ssyelle, Yeukayi Ushe as Milo, Waylon Jacobs as Odward, and Evanna Lynch, known for her role in “Harry Potter,” as Ameline.

The narrative centers on Key, a young farm boy living in a realm where sports and magic intertwine. Key uncovers his remarkable talent, realizing he may be destined to become the legendary Dragon Striker.

Key’s journey takes him to Kal Asterock, a prestigious academy for students with unique abilities. There, he teams up with goalkeeper Ssyelle and joins a determined group aiming to challenge the reigning school champions. As Key battles the fierce dragon within him and Ssyelle strives to keep her team united, they unearth hidden secrets and confront an ancient evil.

Adding to the series’ allure, the soundtrack was recorded in Japan with an 80-piece orchestra. Kevin Penkin, known for his work on “Star Wars: Visions,” composed the series’ music. The theme song, “Power of the Dragon,” was crafted by Cash Callaway and performed by Sarah West, while Kieran Rhodes wrote and performed the end credits song, “The Very End.”

A series of shorts introducing audiences to the world of “Dragon Striker” begins rolling out May 13 on Disney+, Disney XD and Disney Channel Animation YouTube.

All 11 episodes premiere June 9 on Disney XD. The marathon kicks off at 5:00 p.m. EDT/PDT and will stream next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+, Disney XD, Hulu and this ABC station.
