Almost three months after New Jersey psychotherapist Brooke Hanlon was discovered fatally stabbed inside her residence, her husband has spoken publicly for the first time.
“My heart is totally shattered,” James “Conor” Hanlon said in an interview with the Daily Mail published Aug. 23. “It’s a tragedy.”
Conor also addressed speculation surrounding Brooke Hanlon’s unsolved killing. Asked about rumors suggesting he may have been involved, he firmly replied, “Of course not.”
Authorities in Morris County have not identified a suspect or person of interest in Brooke’s death, and prosecutors have not indicated that Conor Hanlon is connected to the homicide.
According to reports, Conor allegedly found Brooke unconscious and bleeding on June 6 inside the couple’s home in Chester Township, New Jersey.
A 911 call obtained by Oxygen captured Conor pleading for emergency responders to come to the house and help his wife.
“Oh my God! I need an ambulance, I just found my wife,” he said during the call. “I don’t know what’s going on. CPR, I need CPR instruction.”
The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled that Brooke Hanlon died from multiple sharp-force injuries, and her death was classified as a homicide.
The case is now in its third month, with an MCPO spokesperson telling Oxygen on Aug. 18, “There are no updates at this time.”
Brooke, who leaves behind a 14-month-old daughter Avery, was laid to rest earlier this month.
“As a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, and a friend, Brooke was a gift from God,” her Aug. 12 obituary read. “She was a truly loving wife and an extraordinary mother to her darling Avery.”
“Brooke was a truly beautiful soul,” the obit read. “Everyone who has ever known her will always remember Brooke’s extraordinary kindness, friendship, loyalty, empathy, compassion, humility, generosity, and passionate desire to help and support family, friends, and all those she counseled. Everyone who has ever interacted with her will always remember Brooke’s bright and beautiful smile.”
