Two apparent daredevils turned Seattle’s famed Space Needle into the scene of an illegal late-night BASE jump, climbing the landmark before parachuting from high above the city.
Video shared on TikTok appears to show the two men making their way over the glass barrier at the Space Needle’s observation deck before leaping from the structure at about 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Wearing helmets and backpacks, the pair can be seen climbing along the exterior, stepping onto a narrow ledge and then jumping into the night sky as their parachutes deploy.
The unauthorized stunt spread quickly online, drawing both stunned reactions and criticism from social media users.
“lol I work at the needle and we’re all talking about it,” one commenter wrote under the video posted by TikTok user .sherpachai.
But not everyone was impressed, with some warning that the high-profile jump could prompt stricter security rules at one of Seattle’s most recognizable attractions.

“Great… way to ruin the space needle because now they’ll impose bag searches and it will be more expensive,” another person said.
One of the parachuters reportedly came down on the roof of the Hyatt hotel at 201 5th Avenue, KIRO 7 reported.
Another video posted on TikTok shows the other man landing near the Seattle Center, where the Bite of Seattle food festival was taking place.
“We are aware of an illegal incident at the Seattle Needle and are working closely with the Seattle Police Department. We are reviewing security footage and assisting with the active investigation,” a spokesperson for the Space Needle wrote in an email.
Two BASE jumpers also similarly leaped off from a Seattle building back in 2024.
The jumpers parachuted off the newly built 37-story Graystone building and landed safely before police were able to locate them.
Officials have not announced whether the jumpers have been identified or if they will face any consequences for the dangerous stunt.
