A derelict home in San Francisco with one bathroom, zero bedrooms, boarded-up windows, and a patchwork of mismatched flooring has sold for nearly $2 million.

The property, located in the  Noe Valley neighborhood, was auctioned off in a conservatorship sale and fetched $1,970,000 — $600,000 above its asking price.

But for such a steep sale, the buyer isn’t getting a spacious mansion or even a remotely livable home: The broken-down house clearly hasn’t been renovated in decades, with dilapidated exterior, peeling walls, and a kitchen featuring mid-twentieth-century appliances.

Yet the realtors insist: ‘This the worst house on the best block, making it a fantastic opportunity.’

The house, built in 1900, spans 2,158 square feet and is described by realtors as ‘a fantastic “contractors’ special” located on a great street and location in Noe Valley.’

‘This is an opportunity like few others to build your dream home,’ the listing reads, adding that it is ‘surrounded by many multimillion dollar homes’ and is ‘the best opportunity on the block and your chance to make it shine as bright as the neighbors.’

Photos show a filthy, peeling exterior, with one street-facing window boarded up and another with broken glass panes.

Inside the front door is a long hallway with not one but three different types of wooden flooring, parts of which appear to have been replaced as the flooring before became damaged.

While other rooms have hardwood floors, there is also chipped paint, inadequate lighting, and in one room, an odd crawl space above a door.

The bathroom is similarly outdated, with an odd, square-shaped tub and dirty tiles

There is also an extension built on the back of the house which doesn’t match the rest of the home and features tiles floors and peeling blue paint.

Outside, though, is a gem: a small backyard that, while desperately in need of some gardening, offers a covered bit of outdoor space.

The house went up for auction in mid-December and sold on January 7. The Real Deal notes that the price is still below the $2.6 million median price of a single-family home in the neighborhood.

Photos of the home were shared by the popular Instagram account Zillow Gone Wild on Wednesday, where many commenters were horrified by the condition of the property.

‘I think I saw this house on Shameless,’ wrote one.

‘It’s still a trap house, but it traps you into a solid roth ira,’ quipped another.

‘It looks like the house for a Fight Club sequel,’ wrote a third, while a fourth commented: ‘I swear this house was on an episode of Hoarders!’

Several said the house looked haunted, and many fixated on the fact that it has no bedrooms.

‘No wonder everyone is homeless,’ said one more.

Yet quite a few people voiced their complete lack of surprise that the property would fetch so much in the area.

‘This is peak San Francisco if I’ve ever seen it,’ wrote one.

‘That would go for $450 a night on airbnb,’ a second speculated.

‘Is it weird I’m surprised it was only $1.9 million,’ said a third.

The Real Deal reports that the sale of this uninhabitable home for millions of dollars has been a trend in San Francisco, where they housing market is categorized by surging prices, ‘even the most derelict of properties.’
