Lions star Terrion Arnold handed NFL lifeline as judge sets $1m bond

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has been granted bond in Florida as he faces charges tied to allegations of armed robbery and kidnapping.

A judge set Arnold’s bond at $1 million after determining there was probable cause for the NFL player to proceed in the case.

The bond includes several restrictions, among them an order preventing Arnold from contacting the six co-defendants or the witness connected to the case.

Arnold has also been given 48 hours to turn over his passport and must remain at his residence, except when leaving for Lions practices or games, legal meetings, or court-related appearances.

Prosecutors asked that Arnold be placed on ankle monitoring, but his attorneys argued the device would interfere with his ability to play football.

Arnold has been held in custody since last Wednesday, when he surrendered to authorities.

He has been accused of leading a plot to detain and pistol-whip three people he believed had stolen from him.

However, investigators claim those victims had nothing to do with the theft – which occurred in February.

Over $250,000 worth of personal property belonging to Arnold and others was reported stolen from an AirBnB rental about 20 miles west of Tampa on February 1.

Three days later, three men in their late teens were held at gunpoint, battered, pistol-whipped and robbed at a Tampa apartment.

Authorities claim that Arnold was the ‘primary conspirator’ in the attack. Arnold has denied his involvement, according to the players management agency.

At least seven people face charges, including two who pleaded guilty Wednesday and are cooperating, the state attorney’s office said. One was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for kidnapping, conspiracy and robbery with a gun, records show.

Arnold was initially denied bail in a pre-trial motion from prosecutors. That motion, reviewed by the Daily Mail, shed light on further details which hadn’t been revealed when the cornerback initially turned himself in.

Within the motion, Arnold is accused of instructing co-defendant Jasmine Randazzo to lure the three victims to her Tampa apartment, where roommate and co-defendant Arianna Del Valle was waiting as fellow co-defendants Christion Williams and Lyndell Hudson hid inside the residence.

Del Valle greeted two of the victims at the door. After one asked where Randazzo was and began searching for her, Williams and Hudson emerged from a bedroom closet carrying firearms, according to the motion. Hudson pointed an AR-15-style rifle at one victim and began striking him while Williams did the same to the other victim with a semiautomatic firearm.

The third victim later arrived at the apartment door out of concern for his friends’ whereabouts, according to prosecutors, who claim he suffered a similar fate.

Prosecutors say the assaults were captured on a video livestream and shared by Del Valle with Arnold and co-defendants Freddie Hughes and Boakai Hilton as they drove towards the Tampa apartment from Tallahassee.

Meanwhile, the co-defendants allegedly engaged in a text message chat, where Arnold and Hilton are accused of giving instructions to Del Valle, Williams, and Hudson on the beatings. Additionally, Hudson, Williams and Hughes allegedly stole wallets, phones, jackets, cash, and jewelry belonging to the three victims.

After Arnold, Hilton, Hughes, and Ridgeway parked outside, the armed assailants allegedly escorted the victims outside, where they were forced into their vehicles and fled, according to prosecutors.

The victims promptly filed a report with Tampa police and a search warrant was served on Del Valle and Randazzo’s apartment, leading to Del Valle’s arrest. She has since admitted to her involvement in the scheme, as has Randazzo, who received a four-year prison sentence this week. Del Valle has yet to be sentenced in the case.

Both Randazzo and Del Valle each positively identified Arnold as the defendant, according to the motion.

Arnold is not the only co-defendant with a football background. Hudson was an offensive lineman at Florida and Florida International. Meanwhile, Williams appeared in four games for Hawaii in 2023 as a defensive back.

The Lions are aware of Arnold’s arrest, but spokespeople have declined further comment ‘out of respect for the ongoing legal process.’

Previously, when the case first arose in February, the Lions seemed to think Arnold would be fine.

‘We got all the information that says he wasn’t involved,’ Lions coach Dan Campbell said at the annual league meetings. ‘That’s what we know, that’s all we know, and that’s really all I can say. As far as I know it’s not a big deal. It seems like he still wasn’t involved with this.’

State Attorney Suzy Lopez issued a statement last week accusing Arnold of vigilante justice.

‘No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,’ Lopez said in a statement. ‘A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation.

‘This arrest is the result of months of investigative work and collaboration between the Tampa Police Department and our prosecutors.

‘We will continue to pursue justice for the three victims by holding everyone accountable for their roles in this crime.’

A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Arnold attended Alabama before being taken by the Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Over two NFL seasons, he has 91 tackles, 18 pass deflections and an interception.
