An American Idol executive and her husband remained undiscovered for four days after they were killed, with police potentially nearby while the perpetrator was still on the premises.
Robin Kaye, a veteran supervisor for the popular show, and her husband Thomas Deluca, both aged 70, were murdered in their Los Angeles mansion, valued at $5 million, on July 10. Their bodies were only found four days later.
A recent felony complaint in the Superior Court of Los Angeles revealed a surprising detail: police had been summoned to the mansion on July 10 following a burglary report from an unnamed eyewitness.
Officers arrived at the couple’s home, a high-security property with an 8-foot spiked wall and surveillance cameras, after two people reported a man jumping the fence.
Cops circled the perimeter and had a helicopter swoop over the property, but were unable to gain access via the ground and saw nothing untoward from the air.
But police sources have now told People that suspect Raymond Boodarian, 22, may have been inside the property at that very moment, close to the bodies of the eldery couple he’s now accused of murdering.
While cops were unable to access the property during the callout, Boodarian is believed to have entered through a single unlocked door while his alleged victims were out grocery shopping.
It is unclear if he pulled the door shut behind him, but he is then said to have lain in wait inside until they returned.
In the couple’s haunting final moments, investigators said they engaged the intruder and struggled with him before ultimately being shot dead in separate rooms.

Four days after the murders, a concerned family member requested a police welfare check on being able to get hold of Kaye or Deluca.
When authorities checked on the home, they say they found a trail of blood leading to the front of the property.
Paramedics were forced to enter through a shattered glass sliding door at the back of the home, because the front door was locked.
Police sources reportedly said that the intruder locked the front door after the shooting.
Kaye was found in the pantry of their home and Deluca was found in the bathroom, and both suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Boodarian was arrested on July 15 and charged with murdering the couple two days later, and also faces burglary charges.
He was linked to the murders through a fingerprint found at the crime scene, which was found to be a match to his past arrests, alongside reported security footage.
According to court records, Boodarian owns a rap sheet that includes charges of battery, threatening to commit a crime with intent to terrorize, and exhibiting a deadly weapon.

Police arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, who has not been pictured, on Tuesday, confirming he had been inside the couple’s home (pictured) for approximately 30 minutes before they unexpectedly returned
The alleged killer is eligible for the death penalty as the shock killings involve multiple special circumstances required for prosecutors to seek it, including multiple victims and murder during a burglary.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has not yet said if it will seek the death penalty.
Police also found a handgun in the suspect’s home, which they believe may have been used in the killings, according to ABC7.
‘We believe its the murder weapon, but pending forensic analysis we’re not ready to say so yet,’ LAPD Lt. Golan said, according to the outlet.
Boodarian allegedly shot the couple dead during a burglary gone wrong, with investigators now looking into whether he’d been alerted to the couple’s wealth during a previous trip to the property.
One of his neighbors, who did not want to be named, said they would occasionally see Boodarian roaming the complex where he lived, ‘looking really, really disturbed.’
The neighbor also said she could often see when Boodarian’s lights were on in his bedroom because of a shared wall. She eerily described how he would sometimes have an ‘episode’ and appear ‘ready to break the walls.’
She claimed that on at least one occasion, he had to be strapped to a stretcher and removed from the property.

Kaye worked as the music supervisor for singing competition American Idol for the last 15 seasons, and won several Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for her work on the show

Kaye’s husband Thomas Deluca (pictured) was a musician who last released an album called Street Rock in 2022. His first ‘acclaimed cult favorite debut’ album. ‘Down To The Wire,’ was released by Epic Records in 1986
Boodarian was never convicted of the charges of battery, threatening to commit a crime with intent to terrorize, and exhibiting a deadly weapon because the case was dismissed when he was declared mentally incompetent.
Many questions now surround how Boodarian’s case was dismissed, with criminal defense attorney Lou Shapiro explaining that a significant factor may lie within California’s legal system, according to ABC7.
‘There’s a separate court, just for people with mental health issues, if they are eligible for that court, they usually get put on a different track,’ Shapiro said. ‘And for the most part, most people that go on that track do well.’
‘But every so often we have a situation like this, where it didn’t go the way it should have gone,’ he added.
‘And very tragically, we have two people who are dead because of it.’
Kaye worked as the music supervisor for singing competition American Idol for the last 15 seasons, or nearly 300 episodes, per her IMDB page.

Her husband was a musician who last released an album called Street Rock in 2022. His first ‘acclaimed cult favorite debut’ album. ‘Down To The Wire,’ was released by Epic Records in 1986.
Deluca penned songs for popular hit makers, including Kid Rock, the band Molly Hatchet and Meredith Brooks.
The couple purchased the home in January 2023, according to public records. The home was also used a rental property before being sold to the couple, neighbors said.
