Emilie Kiser breaks silence on the shock drowning of her son

Emilie Kiser has said she will do “everything in my power to be the best mom” to her youngest child as she continues to cope with the death of her three-year-old son, Trigg.

In her first interview since the drowning incident in May, the 27-year-old content creator spoke candidly about mourning her little boy while still caring for her one-year-old son, Teddy.

Trigg died on May 18, 2025, six days after he was found unresponsive in the backyard pool of the family’s home in Chandler, Arizona.

According to a Chandler police report, he had been left unsupervised in the backyard for more than nine minutes on the day of the incident.

The report said Trigg spent about seven of those minutes in the pool while drowning.

Speaking on the latest episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Kiser reflected on the devastating loss, saying: “Losing a child really shows you in the scariest, most real way possible just how quickly life can change, and how quickly life can be literally taken away.”

Turning her attention to her youngest son Teddy, whom she shares with her husband Brady Kiser, she continued: ‘I always try to remind myself that I have a choice to make.

‘I can either let this completely derail me more than it already has, and not really feel like I’m fit or able to take care of my younger son, or I can do everything in my power to be the best mom I possibly can for him, and give him the same love that Trigg had and has.’

Kiser’s podcast appearance has been praised by listeners.

‘The way she articulated herself is nothing short of inspirational!’ one commented on Spotify. ‘What a strong lady! So sad!’

‘This woman is experiencing something so heartbreaking, and yet she is so gracious in her words and in what she says about her husband and her two kids,’ another said. ‘May God ease her pain.’

Kiser has been open on social media about how she has been grieving the tragic loss of her son.

In late December 2025, she shared an update about how the loss of her child has impacted her relationship with her husband.

When asked if her family was ‘angry’ with Brady, she replied: ‘My entire family loves him so so much.

‘If anything, their unwavering love for him and Trigg is something that has helped us so much to come together as a family.’

Around the same time, she also opened up about the ‘terrible Christmas,’ her first since their son’s death.

Kiser and her husband are parents to one-year-old son Teddy, born in March 2025

'I can either let this completely derail me...or I can do everything in my power to be the best mom I possibly can for him,' she said of parenting through grief

In March, Kiser said her son’s death was ‘preventable’ and issued an urgent plea to parents about pool safety.

‘I continue to feel like I have no words in what to say when I’m asked how I feel because the only adequate word is ‘broken’,’ she wrote in a statement shared to Instagram.

‘I miss him so much. Everything about him. Especially the joy and light he brought to our home.’

Kiser went on to highlight the importance of safety awareness.

‘It’s apparent to everyone who has ever heard HIS story, that it was preventable,’ she said before urging parents to take precautions, such as installing pool fencing, enrolling children in swimming lessons, and always supervising them around water.
