People across parts of Europe paused their summer routines on Wednesday, stepping away from holidays and midday rest to witness a rare total solar eclipse.

According to NASA, the eclipse’s path of totality crossed portions of northern Russia, Greenland, Iceland, Portugal and Spain before stretching out over the Mediterranean Sea.
