A young executive from the City passed away merely days after returning from a holiday on a Greek island, leaving her devastated mother to say she was ‘here one moment and gone the next’.
University graduate Georgia Taylor, 24, had run the London marathon just four months earlier and was very fit.
But she developed a sore leg during a summer holiday in Zante.
The family had embarked on a trip to Greece at the beginning of August, and despite Georgia seeming generally healthy, she experienced a persistent pain in her right calf while ascending a hill.
But she appeared to get better after taking painkillers and applying ibuprofen gel.
However, the leg problem continued when she returned home to the village of Gwaelod-y-Garth, near Cardiff.
She fell gravely ill on the day she was meant to begin physiotherapy and was taken to the University Hospital of Wales. Sadly, she passed away in the early hours of August 21, with her family by her side.
Her family suspected she developed a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which may have started after her outbound flight to Zante in August.

But they say they are still waiting for definitive answers.
Her mother Nicola told The Daily Mail: ‘It is hard – she was here one minute and gone the next.
‘We are still waiting to find out the cause of death but we think we know what happened.
‘They have started an investigation and there may be an inquest so we don’t want to say anything until we know all the facts.’
If Georgia’s death is confirmed to be due to DVT, it could spark questions regarding her medical care, considering the condition can often be addressed with clot-dissolving medications.
A post mortem examination was carried out and the tragedy is understood to have been reported to the Glamorgan Coroner.
Her mother, father John, and brother Joe, aged 21, remain in shock and find it hard to accept the loss of Georgia, who was not typically an unwell or sickly person.
The family said Georgia went for her appointment at around 6pm on August 20, but messaged her mother to hurry and get there because she was feeling unwell and needed to go to the hospital.
Nicola told WalesOnline: ‘We got in there and it all happened really quickly.’

Parents Nicola and John described what had happened as ‘awful’ and ‘unimaginable pain’.
They said: ‘It was just so sudden, we were in complete denial. And still are to a certain extent.’
The pair described waking up every morning and thinking ‘how has this happened’ and ‘what are we going to do today without our beautiful girl’.
Georgia was described by family as being ‘always very well and healthy’ and as someone who ‘rarely took time off work or had any ailments’.
At the time of the symptoms, she was not thought to have any medical issues, was not taking any medication and ‘wasn’t ill at all’ – having ‘never been an ill or a sickly person’.
Georgia’s brother, Joe, said his sister had many talents and enjoyed skiing and running and had completed in the London Marathon earlier in the year in memory of their grandfather.
He added she ‘showed no judgement towards others’ and ‘everybody got along with her’.
Ahead of running the London Marathon in April, Georgia posted on her LinkedIn: ‘I will be running in support of Pancreatic Cancer.
‘This cause is incredibly close to my heart.’
Nicola described Georgia as ‘always so happy’ with a ‘completely infectious laugh’ that ‘lit up the room’ and ‘loads and loads of friends, like a magnet’.
Before her death, Georgia had been pursuing a career at Dow Jones in London, following a successful internship in 2021 after graduating from the University of Reading with a degree in business and consumer marketing.
More than 900 people attended Georgia’s funeral on September 25.
The family have set up a fundraising page collecting donations for charity.
Other family members posted tributes to Georgia on Facebook, describing her as ‘beautiful’ and ‘bubbly’.

In a heart felt letter, her cousin Danielle Hillberg said she had ‘loved every second growing up’ with her and described how she ‘hates the thought of now having to grow old without’ her.
She said: ‘There isn’t a person on this earth who didn’t want to be your friend upon meeting you.
‘You lit up every room you walked into and the party only really started when you did.
‘You lived life more in your short 24 years with us than most people do in 70 years.
‘I promise you George I will not take a thing for granted and live life to the max every single day just for you. Say yes to everything and not be bothered by the small stuff.
‘Although there is a lot of things I don’t know how I’ll ever do, visit or listen to again because it’s too painful without you I promise I will do it and do it all for you.’
One of Georgia’s other cousins Chelsey Taylor wrote: ‘My beautiful bubbly cousin, my girl always and forever.’
Her aunt Jantanee Taylor posted: ‘My beautiful niece we never stop talking about you we love you Georgia.’
