A 5-year-old girl narrowly escaped serious injury when a stray bullet grazed her during a gunfight between rival gangs on a Bronx street Wednesday evening, according to police and insider reports.
The incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Southern Avenue in the Longwood neighborhood, where shots were fired between two groups suspected to be gang-related, resulting in the child being grazed on the ear, as reported by the NYPD and other sources.
The young girl was an unintended victim caught in the crossfire of the daylight shooting, which caused terrified residents to flee for safety, according to sources.
She was promptly taken to Harlem Hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition, authorities confirmed.
