In Riverside, California, officials have repeatedly extended help to former Nickelodeon actor Tylor Chase, yet he continues to decline their offers.

Ryan Railsback, Public Information Officer for the Riverside Police Department, informed TMZ on Monday that the 36-year-old actor has turned down various forms of support. These include offers for shelter, substance abuse treatment, and mental health services through the department’s outreach program.

Despite his refusal of aid, Chase is described as ‘cooperative and cordial’ during his weekly interactions with officers.

Known for his role as Martin Qwerly on the early 2000s show Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, Chase is not facing any criminal charges, according to police.

Authorities mentioned that they have not reached out to Chase’s family, although he remains without permanent housing.

The Daily Mail has contacted both the Riverside Police Department and Nickelodeon to seek additional comments on the situation.

The news comes as another one-time child star who has battled homelessness – Shaun Weiss of The Mighty Ducks films – has offered help to Chase.

Chase was filmed looking worse for wear in Riverside this September in the viral video, which his one-time co-stars have described as ‘scary.’

Chase did not seem to be upset when police informed him of the viral video, authorities told TMZ.

On its website, the Riverside Police Department says that its Community Engagement Division ‘strives to address emerging crime trends, maintain safe school campuses, create safe parks and neighborhoods, reduce retail crime and develop working partnerships with all of our Riverside communities.’

The woman who filmed the viral clip started by asking Chase if he was on the Disney Channel.

‘Nickelodeon,’ Chase clarified, adding that he was on ‘Ned’s Declassified.’

‘Oh yeah, you’re that kid on it,’ the fan responded, as Chase told her his full name.

The video sparked widespread sadness on social media – and, once Chase’s former co-stars heard about it, they also expressed their shock.

Actors Devon Werkheiser, Daniel Curtis Lee and Lindsey Shaw addressed the news on Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide on September 24.

‘There was some bad news that I received earlier this week about our dear friend Tylor Chase. It was a lot to process for me,’ Lee said, describing the video as ‘scary.’

Lee added, ‘When I first saw, I was angry, because I was like, why put a camera on someone’s face in hard times? But then I was upset with myself because I feel powerless because there’s not much that I felt I could do.’

‘I didn’t want to believe it at first, I was like, oh they just caught him at a bad time,’ Lee added.

‘But then I saw some other videos, and it looks like a brother is going through some stuff. I fully believe that he can recover, but that’s also wishful thinking from me.’

Lee spoke about the careful balance he faced as a concerned party reaching out.

‘I gotta go and see him, and want to get through this fight, and try to connect with him somehow, but I also don’t want to waste my time and put him on the spot,’ Lee said.

Shaw agreed that she was ‘in the same boat’ as Lee and wanted to go see Chase in person.

‘You can’t do much, but I would love to go speak with him and just love on him and look him in the eye,’ she said. ‘I miss Tylor, I love Tylor so, so much.’

Werkheiser added: ‘It’s a lot to see… and even begin to have an idea of what to do about it.’

Werkheiser said that although he hated to see Chase exposed at a vulnerable time, he believed that the woman who posted the video had ‘her heart in the right place.’

‘It is painful and shocking to see where he is currently at … it’s hard to see someone you know and love from a really special time, and a really sweet person, that this is where life has currently ended up, is hard, man,’ he said.

Arizona-born Chase started his acting career as a teenager in the early 2000s. He is best known for playing Qwerly, but also starred in Everybody Hates Chris in 2005 and as Young Adam in the 2008 James Franco flick Good Time Max.
