In a significant move for the Baltimore Ravens, Declan Doyle has been appointed as the new offensive coordinator, according to insider information shared with ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
At just 29 years old, Doyle shares the same age as the Ravens’ star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, and now holds the distinction of being the youngest offensive play-caller in the NFL. Previously serving as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, the actual in-game play-calling was managed by head coach Ben Johnson.

This decision marks a bold step for the Ravens’ recently appointed head coach, Jesse Minter, who finalized Doyle’s position following an interview conducted in Baltimore on Friday. Though Doyle lacks experience as a primary play-caller and has only seven years in NFL coaching, he is highly regarded for his strategic offensive acumen.
Doyle played a pivotal role in revamping the Chicago Bears’ offense from being the league’s lowest-ranked in 2024 to a formidable sixth-place position last season. Under his guidance, the Bears improved their scoring average to 26 points per game in 2025, securing the ninth spot in the league, a substantial leap from the previous year’s 18.2 points per game, which placed them 28th.

Before his tenure with the Bears, Doyle honed his skills as the tight ends coach for the Denver Broncos between 2023 and 2024 and served as an offensive assistant for the New Orleans Saints from 2019 to 2022.
Doyle’s upcoming challenge will be to rejuvenate Jackson and the Ravens’ offensive strategies. Last season, Jackson’s passing averaged 196.1 yards with 21 touchdown passes, figures marking his lowest performance since 2022.
When asked Thursday what he wanted in an offensive coordinator, Minter said, “I’m looking for a connector and an innovator, and a scheme builder around the best player in the world.”
This marks the fourth offensive coordinator for Jackson, who is entering his ninth NFL season. But change has worked previously for Jackson, who has produced NFL MVP seasons after the past two times Baltimore hired new offensive coordinators.
