A tragic discovery in north Georgia has led to the identification of a young woman found deceased, wrapped in blankets. The victim has been confirmed as Kaylee B. Shackelford, a 20-year-old from Powell, Tennessee, a suburb near Knoxville.
According to Rome Police, Shackelford was discovered on Tuesday afternoon. Her tragic death has led to the arrest of two individuals, including 23-year-old Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor, with whom she reportedly had a relationship.
Authorities suspect Taylor had initiated an online connection with another woman, 25-year-old Rolanda Monique Edwards. Both Taylor and Edwards are now facing serious charges in relation to Shackelford’s death.
Eyewitnesses in the vicinity reported observing a red vehicle shortly before Shackelford’s body was found. This vehicle was later pursued and intercepted in Bartow County after a brief chase, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
As reported by CrimeOnline, Taylor faces multiple charges, including murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery, along with various traffic infractions related to his arrest. Edwards, meanwhile, has been charged with being a party to a crime, concealing a death, and hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
Both suspects are currently held without bail in Floyd County Jail, pending further legal proceedings.
Taylor also had an arrest warrant in nearby Cobb County for a string of crimes on November 1. Court records say he tried to hit a woman with his car, then grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the car. The two got into a verbal and physical fight at a nearby gas station, where he took her car keys and left the scene when he learned police were en route. It’s unknown if that person was Shackelford.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may follow,” Rome police said.
