Influencer Details Husband’s Injuries After Freak Accident

Influencer Rebecca Zamolo has shared new details about the injuries her husband suffered after a frightening barbecue accident.

The 43-year-old Los Angeles-based content creator posted on Instagram about the alarming incident involving her husband, Matt Slays.

Zamolo, who has 3.3 million followers on the platform, told fans: ‘For those who don’t know, Matt’s face caught on fire at our BBQ and it gave him second-degree superficial burns.’

She said the accident occurred only hours before the couple were due to board a flight to Hawaii, where they had planned to celebrate Slays’ birthday.

‘It was a scary incident for all of us, and a reminder how precious life is,’ Zamolo wrote.

She also thanked supporters who had checked in, adding: ‘Thank you to everyone that has reached out and friends that are in the medical field and put him on a good path to heal.’

Zamolo ended the update on an emotional note, saying: ‘He’s extremely lucky as it could have been a lot worse, but we are taking it day by day. We love you Matt.’

Her Instagram post featured four photos showing the aftermath of the accident, including visible burn marks across Slays’ face.

In a follow-up update shared to her Instagram Story on Sunday, Zamolo wrote, ‘Update on Matt: His face has improved so much in the last week since the burn and it’s getting back to looking normal (minus the eyebrows).

‘He’s in good spirits.’

Matt took to the comments to share his own update, adding, in part: ‘I am doing much better and this trip was honestly the best way to recover.’

Hundreds of followers flooded the post with support as one wrote: ‘OH MY GOSH THAT’S SO SCARY! Glad he’s ok!’

Another added: ‘Sending love and prayers.’

And a third shared: ‘Omg. That is horrible. I am so happy he’s okay.’

The couple, who wed in 2017, have built up a legion of loyal followers through viral challenges and family-focused clips, which often feature their two children Zadie, four, and Xander, 11 months.

The duo, who have a combined YouTube subscriber count of over 30 million, welcomed their second kid through surrogacy last year.

Zamolo spoke to People at the time about how she and her husband were transitioning into becoming parents of two.

‘We divide responsibilities so both kids feel loved and get one-on-one time,’ she shared.

‘For example, I’ll take care of Xander’s night routine while Matt spends time with Zadie, then we switch. It is the only way that works for us for making sure each of them gets quality time with both of us…

‘While it’s been an adjustment, she’s excited about her baby brother and loves helping him.’
