Jamie Lee Curtis delivered a moving tribute to her late friend and fellow performer Rob Reiner during the 2026 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday night.
The 67-year-old actress fought back tears as she honored Reiner and his wife, Michele, during the ceremony’s In Memoriam presentation. The tribute came more than nine months after the couple were fatally stabbed at their home in Brentwood, California.
Referencing Reiner’s best-known television role, Curtis called him her “beloved Meathead.” Her remarks came just one week after Reiner posthumously received a Creative Arts Emmy for playing Albert Schnurr on The Bear.
“Last week, Robby won an Emmy for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his beautiful work on The Bear,” Curtis said.
She added that Reiner now holds the record for the longest gap between acting Emmy wins, at 48 years. The previous record belonged to his father, Carl Reiner, who went 37 years between victories.
Curtis remembered Reiner as “generous and kind, and funny as hell and a friend to all.”

“We all miss Rob and Michele and all those we lost this year,” Curtis said.

Reiner won the Outstanding Guest Actor Emmy on September 6, defeating Michael J. Fox, Brett Goldstein, Hamish Linklater, Christopher McDonald and Connor Storrie.
He had previously earned Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 1974 and 1978 for his portrayal of Michael “Meathead” Stivic on All in the Family.
Curtis and Reiner also appeared together on The Bear and the sitcom New Girl. From 2012 to 2018, they played Joan and Bob Day, the parents of Zooey Deschanel’s character, Jess Day.
Curtis’s husband, Christopher Guest, 78, had also worked with Reiner on several films, including This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, A Few Good Men and Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
Curtis said during Monday’s ceremony: “We all miss Rob and Michele and all those we lost this year.”

Curtis and Guest were longtime personal friends, as Rob and Michele Reiner had been godparents to their daughter Annie Guest, 39.
The Reiners were among a number of people were honored in the memorial segment, which had been accompanied by a performance of the Simon & Garfunkel classic Bridge Over Troubled Water from Noah Kahan.
Also remembered were James Burrows, Robert Carradine, Tim Curry, Eric Dane, Robert Duvall, Shelley Fabares, Bob Mackie, Sam Neill, Catherine O’Hara, Dolly Parton, Vincent Pastore, Hayden Panettiere, Ted Turner and James Van Der Beek.
