JetBlue plane hits drone at 3,000 feet before touching down at JFK -- just days after scare at Newark

A JetBlue pilot reported a possible collision with a drone at about 3,000 feet Monday morning as the aircraft was approaching John F. Kennedy International Airport, the airline said.

The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. during the flight’s final approach, when the suspected drone was said to have struck near the area above the cockpit. It came just days after a United Airlines flight narrowly avoided a drone while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and local reports.

“We collided with a drone back there in the turn as we were coming to ASALT, just wanted to pass to you,” the pilot told an air traffic controller, according to audio obtained by WABC.

The pilot indicated that no assistance was required, and the flight, which had departed from Las Vegas, continued on to JFK and landed safely.

“The flight landed without incident, customers deplaned normally, and the plane was removed from service for a post-flight inspection, which found no damage or evidence of collision,” a JetBlue spokesperson told The Post in a statement.

“Safety is JetBlue’s first priority, and we will assist with any relevant investigations,” the spokesperson added.

The FAA is expected to investigate the reported incident.
