Joe Rogan throws shade at Trump over AI Jesus post

Joe Rogan recently took a jab at the president while discussing a controversial social media post that seemed to portray the president as Jesus Christ.

Rogan was joined by former Navy SEAL Andy Stumpf for the podcast when the AI-generated artwork came up in conversation roughly halfway through Tuesday’s ‘Joe Rogan Experience’.

During a conversation about potential solutions for issues within the US healthcare system, Rogan humorously suggested relying on an ‘AI God.’

“AI God needs to come to life and take control of the system,” Rogan quipped.

In a playful exchange, Stumpf asked for more details, prompting Rogan to elaborate.

“AI God—like the one that created that Jesus meme Trump just shared,” Rogan joked.

Stumpf, continuing the playful tone, replied, “Joe, I told you, he said he was a doctor,” referencing Trump’s explanation to reporters at the White House, where he denied intending to portray himself as a religious figure.

The quip caused Rogan – a self-professed centrist – to immediately crack up off-screen. He decided to play into the bit.

Rogan laughed off Donald Trump’s claim that the image he posted – and deleted – this week was meant to depict him as a ‘healer’. Critics, Rogan included, saw the AI art as depicting Trump as Jesus

‘That’s what they called him, that’s what AI God calls Jesus – Jesus is a doctor,’ he joked.

The pair moved on from there, after more than a day of outrage over the post.

The image depicted a cloaked figure bearing Trump’s likeness healing another man in front of fervent US imagery, all as magical orbs of light emanate from his hands.

The ‘healer’ is also shrouded in a divine light in the image. The post was deleted Monday morning after being posted overnight.

When asked who was responsible, the president pointed to himself on Monday.

‘I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor, and had to do with the Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support,’ Trump told reporters at a White House event meant to promote his ‘no tax on tips’ initiative ahead of Tax Day.

He blamed ‘fake news’ for the outrage that followed.

The post was published as Trump continued a criticism campaign against Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the Catholic Church. Trump called the Holy Father ‘weak’ on Sunday, after the pontiff spoke out against the war in Iran.

Pope Leo, 70, responded to Trump’s remarks during the first day of his trip to Africa on Monday, telling reporters he had ‘no fear of the Trump administration’.

‘I will continue to speak out strongly against war, seeking to promote peace, promoting dialogue and multilateralism among states to find solutions to problems,’ he said.

The US and Israel began the conflict on February 28. Pope Leo has made several general appeals for peace since.

Rogan, meanwhile, had been expressing his frustrations with Trump for the course of several months.

He endorsed the Republican at the eleventh hour back in November 2024.

At first, Rogan balked because of the conservative’s approach to immigration, and has since soured over Trump’s use of the US military.

In December, Rogan told comedian Shane Gillis any type of war ‘would be a terrible idea’. The conversation occurred just before the US’s invasion of Venezuela.

Last month, Rogan called Trump’s military aspirations in Iran ‘insane’ just days after the US’s initial strikes in the region on February 28.

Rogan maintained Trump supporters should ‘feel betrayed’ by those strikes. Trump, 79, campaigned on an ‘America First’ foreign policy.
