Nurse Julie Paul expected to return to stand
Day 11 of Lindsay Clancy’s trial is set to begin shortly in Plymouth County Superior Court in Massachusetts, with psychiatric nurse Julie Paul expected to return to the witness stand. Paul is due to face cross-examination from Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington.
Paul, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, provided brief treatment to Clancy in November 2022, roughly two months before the killings.
According to testimony, Paul operated a postpartum program and became connected to Clancy through Patrick Clancy’s mother, Sue Clancy, who was also a nurse.
Paul said Clancy had been dealing with anxiety and racing thoughts, but described her most pressing concern at the time as an inability to sleep.
On November 21, 2022, Paul initially prescribed Clancy Prozac. Within days, she also prescribed Ambien, Remeron and Klonopin.
By late November, Paul was preparing to move to another hospital and transferred Clancy’s care to a different nurse.
During that same period, Clancy was also being treated by Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who faced pointed questioning from Reddington on Monday over her experience and the quality of care she provided in the four months before the killings.
