Currently, details are sparse, but Sheriff Richard Coleman stated that the video was filmed near Beach High School, but not on the campus, in Savannah’s Liberty City area. The incident allegedly happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Coleman said that the boy in the video is believed to be okay.

Authorities suspect the alleged gunman is underage. Sheriff Coleman said the boy’s mother turned him over to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office after she saw the video online.

Sheriff Coleman spoke exclusively with at the county jail and said that these kinds of behaviors will not be tolerated in Chatham County.

“Social media posts like this are worrying,” Coleman remarked. “They send a disturbing message to the community. Nonetheless, our message as law enforcement is clear: we refuse to be intimidated or allow fear to spread in our communities.”
