The Pentagon on Friday made public its fourth tranche of UFO-related records under President Trump’s declassification directive, a release that includes video of an unusual six-pointed object seen off the coast of East Asia.
Although the newly released material does not provide evidence of extraterrestrial life, it broadens the range of unexplained sightings disclosed since May — from relatively well-documented moving spheres to a less firmly supported report of a huge, crystal-like, potato-shaped object over Colorado.
The Trump administration, along with agencies including the FBI, has approached UFOs as a potential national security concern requiring deeper scrutiny. Still, officials have not produced evidence supporting long-running allegations of government concealment involving alien landings or the secret recovery of extraterrestrial remains.
Analysts examining the records have sought to judge the reliability of the sightings and weigh more ordinary possibilities — including weather balloons, atmospheric phenomena or sophisticated foreign technology — though those conclusions are frequently absent from the documents themselves.
Among the most striking items in Friday’s release is the six-pointed, star-like image, which was recorded last year over the Yellow Sea between China and the Korean Peninsula.
An 18-second clip initially appears to show something like a crack across a camera display, but closer inspection indicates it is an object being followed by the military’s Indo-Pacific Command.
“The sensor pans to track an area of contrast resembling a six-pointed star, keeping it generally centered within the center of the screen,” a summary of the file states.
Another US Navy report details a jellyfish-like UFO spotted over the Atlantic Ocean in 2020, noting that it may have been a balloon.
“A U.S. military operator reported observing an object, describing the phenomenon as darker, maroonish color, approximately 12-15 feet in height,” the file says.
“The report describes the phenomenon ‘travel[ing] with the wind’ and noted that it did not ‘maneuver or change direction.’ It also describes the phenomenon as appearing as a ‘large, somewhat deformed balloon.’”
Trump, who ordered the rolling disclosure earlier this year, has said repeatedly that he is skeptical about the existence of alien life, but mandated transparency about UFOs after former President Barack Obama said of aliens during a February interview: “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them.”
Some of the files have provided new hope of solving the mystery of specific cases.
US officials have pinpointed a location in the Northeast, for example, where orbs regularly appear — having been documented by a resident near a secluded pond and then verified in late 2024 by a team of FBI agents.
However, any findings and the precise area of those sightings remain secret.
