Police in upstate New York are asking for the public’s help as they search for an “armed and dangerous” man wanted in connection with a homicide and a house fire.
In a statement Friday, state police said, “The New York State Police Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation is asking residents of the Greenville community to review any available home surveillance footage recorded from approximately 6:00 p.m. on August 6, 2026, through the overnight hours. Anyone who observes suspicious activity is urged to contact the New York State Police immediately.”
New York State Police first issued an alert Friday morning urging residents to be on the lookout for Thomas David Ryan, 32, who is wanted in connection with a homicide at a home in Greenville.
Investigators believe the killing may be tied to a house fire reported Thursday on Greenville Turnpike, according to FOX 5 New York. Firefighters in Orange County were called to the scene shortly after 7 p.m.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, and it remains unclear whether the homicide happened before or after the fire broke out.
Police said Ryan may be traveling in a gray 2016 Toyota Prius with New York license plate HNH-7671.
“Ryan is 6’2″ 200 lbs and was last seen in the area of Greenville [Turnpike] wearing black sweatpants and a black t shirt. Anyone coming in contact with Ryan is advised to use caution,” NYSP said.
Anyone who sees Ryan should not approach him and should call 911 immediately, police said.
