ESCONDIDO —
A person was shot and wounded when a gunman got out of a car and opened fire in front of an Escondido apartment complex late Tuesday, a police sergeant said.
The shooting happened about 11:20 p.m. on North Midway Drive just north of East Valley Parkway, Sgt. Steve Braucht said.
He said a group of males was standing on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled up. One of the occupants got out and opened fire. ]
The shooter got back in the vehicle, which fled.
The victim was struck in the torso. He was hospitalized with serious injuries, Braucht said,
