KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man was arrested Friday after a standoff in the early morning hours, according to the Kingsport Police Department (KPD).

Law enforcement from the KPD responded to the 1800 block of Rock Springs Road at about 3 a.m. on Friday, following a report of an armed individual purportedly making threats against people.

A KPD news release identified the man as Steven Gott, 27.

According to police, Gott “refused to comply with lawful orders to surrender himself to officers on scene.”

The KPD’s SWAT Team was activated and arrested Gott.

Gott was charged with aggravated domestic assault and aggravated assault. As of Friday afternoon, he was being held in the Kingsport City Jail.
