Carrot Top's home visited by police after 'suicide attempt'

Police were reportedly seen outside Carrot Top’s Las Vegas residence on Saturday morning, one day after the comedian was said to have attempted suicide.

The 61-year-old entertainer, born Scott Christopher Thompson, was reportedly hospitalized Friday after an apparent suicide attempt, just hours before he was due to perform at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, according to TMZ.

Sources said the incident occurred somewhere in the Las Vegas area and that Thompson was taken to a nearby hospital. His Friday night comedy performance was later canceled.

An eyewitness told TMZ that three police vehicles were parked outside Thompson’s Las Vegas home on Saturday and shared photos of the scene with the outlet.

Sources also claimed that his scheduled Saturday night appearance at the Luxor had been canceled while he remained hospitalized.

Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, did not disclose the reason for his hospitalization. In a statement Friday, she said only that he was receiving “the care and support he needs.”

Our News Outlet has reached out to Thompson’s representative for additional comment.

Schlicher said Friday: “Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”

The comedian’s most recent social media update was posted Thursday, when he promoted his upcoming Friday performance.

Thompson shared a 2018 image of himself beside an orange utility terrain vehicle, writing: “Just your average Thursday commute to the Luxor. TBT.”

After reports of his hospitalization emerged, fans filled the post’s comments with messages of support and encouragement.

“You’re loved more than you know. You’re special & the world is more beautiful with you in it. Sending love & hope your way,” one commenter wrote.

Another fan posted: “Scott we love you dude. Praying for you. ❤️”

A third commenter wrote: “Just heard sad news. Hope you’re gonna be OK dude. Saw you last December and plan on bringing another friend next trip to LV to see you again. You are hella adored and hope you really know that. Truth.”

Thompson became widely known during the 1990s for his energetic comedy routines featuring oversized props and visual gags.

Concern for the comedian arose nearly a year ago, in November 2025, when he was photographed appearing disheveled during a visit to a Las Vegas grocery store.

An insider later commented to Our News Outlet, ‘He didn’t ever think he was going to be photographed shopping, so he let his guard down – [he was] not in any makeup or anything.’

In a 2022 interview with Metal Life Magazine, Thompson spoke about his clean lifestyle.

He insisted, ‘I’m completely sober. I don’t smoke marijuana and I never have. I don’t think I have been drunk since high school, literally.

‘I have friends like Gene Simmons, he’s never had a drop of booze – zero. I’m not that pure. I definitely have a little Crown on the rocks right before a show.’

After a show, he said he comes home, watches TV and has a ‘glass of red wine.’

‘I’m definitely not the drug guy. I’m actually more of a nerd than anything else,’ he told the outlet.

This past July, Radar Online reported that Thompson was being sued by singer Brian Evans, who accused him of sending an unprompted sexually explicit video.

And earlier this month, a second accuser came forward to back Evans’s claims and share his own story, according to the outlet.
