Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide but ‘likely’ had help, former lawyer claims

Jeffrey Epstein’s previous attorney expresses suspicion that the disgraced financier might have received assistance in taking his own life while in prison. However, he dismisses allegations that anyone other than Epstein was to blame.

“The evidence clearly indicates that Epstein committed suicide,” attorney Alan Dershowitz stated in a recent Wall Street Journal editorial. “What remains uncertain is whether jail staff may have helped. This seems probable to me, given the reported issues such as malfunctioning cameras, his cellmate’s relocation, and the absence of guards during critical moments.”

Epstein’s death in federal custody in 2019 sparked a whirlwind of conspiracy theories. Detractors, including Epstein’s brother, dispute the suicide claim. They cite an independent autopsy review by Dr. Michael Baden and various other case elements, such as missing security footage and an unresolved bail request.

The only confirmed conspirator is Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s 63-year-old former lover who is the lone person convicted in his sex trafficking. She is appealing while serving a 20-year federal prison sentence at a federal prison in Tallahassee.
