Sydney Sweeney is lining up another provocative screen role, this time in a bold new spin on one of America’s most famous ghost stories.
According to Deadline, the Euphoria star is attached to lead a fresh “retelling” of Sleepy Hollow.
The project is based on Hollow, the debut novel from Lindsey Anderson Beer, who is also set to write the adaptation, direct and produce the film.
Deadline describes the movie as combining “gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue and erotic thriller elements” in what is being positioned as a modern, high-concept reinvention of the classic tale.
Hollow reworks Washington Irving’s 1820 short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow through a feminist lens.
Sweeney, 28, is expected to take on the central role of Van Tassel, a character drawn into a seductive supernatural love triangle.

The Sleepy Hollow story is familiar to many movie fans thanks to the 1999 film starring Johnny Depp
There have been several screen versions of the The Legend of Sleepy Hollow over the years, the most memorable being Tim Burton’s 1999 film Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci.
A Sleepy Hollow TV series also ran for four seasons from 2013 to 2017 on Fox.
Sweeney has become somewhat of an expert in the erotic thriller genre, having starred in the raunchy Amazon Prime Video flick The Voyeurs and the box office smash The Housemaid.
Outside of acting, the blonde bombshell has found success with her new lingerie line Syrn.
On Thursday, Sweeney showed off her famous figure as she modeled a low-cut bralette and boyshort from Syrn’s new Small Town Girl collection.
She confidently showed off her voluptuous curves and toned abs as she posed up a storm in the underwear set.

Fans were excited for the new collection, with one commenting, ‘A sports bra that can really hold DDs while running, perhaps? I’d be first in line to buy.’
‘Euphoria season three wasn’t even that bad, to be honest,’ added another.

This comes after Euphoria creator Sam Levinson defended the actress’s X-rated character arc in season three of the hit HBO series.
Levinson said on Real Time with Bill Maher that he wanted to explore the controversial occupation on the HBO show, using Sweeney’s character, after witnessing how OnlyFans has become a ‘massive enterprise.’
‘If you look at OnlyFans, it is making as much money as Hollywood. I mean, essentially it’s on par,’ Levinson explained.
‘It’s not a niche business, it is a massive enterprise. And so if you’re young, you’re going … I don’t want to go work in a nine to five at this place or that thing. Well, maybe I can just start taking photos of myself?’
Levinson explained he incorporated OnlyFans into Euphoria because he wanted to explore ‘the long-term consequences of that.’

During the interview, Levinson acknowledged that he and the rest of the Euphoria cast and crew ‘caught a lot of criticism for’ Sweeney’s sex work scenes.
He then wondered if they would ‘get the same criticism’ if they actually ‘affirmed this life.’
‘You know, we take a fairly critical look at it. It hollows out the individual. You know, you’re constantly just depending on the likes and external validation,’ he said.
Since Euphoria wrapped, Sweeney has a number of huge projects in the pipeline.
In addition to The Housemaid sequel, Sweeney has also scored the lead role in the sci-fi action flick Gundam, which is based on the best-selling anime series Mobile Suit Gundam.
