Police make illicit $2.1 million find at Sydney home

Four men have been charged after police discovered $2.1 million worth of cannabis at a home in Sydney‘s south. 

Earlier this month, detectives from Strike Force Grassy launched an investigation into suspected cannabis distribution within the Sutherland Shire. Their inquiries led them to a residence on Shirley Road in Miranda.

Police, including the public riot and dog squad, stormed the address on Tuesday.

Upon searching the property, authorities uncovered approximately 240 kilograms of cannabis along with seven cannabis plants, collectively valued at an estimated $2.1 million on the street.

Four men, aged 36, 41, 50, and 51, were apprehended at the scene and subsequently taken to Sutherland Police Station for questioning.

In a related search at a second residence on Langer Avenue in Caringbah South, police discovered four firearms.

Another raid at a home on Robert Road in San Souci revealed an additional 3.3 kilograms of cannabis, around $95,000 in cash, and several documents.

The four men have been charged with several offenses, including the enhanced indoor cultivation of cannabis for commercial purposes, supplying a prohibited drug in a large commercial quantity, and participating in a criminal group contributing to illegal activities.

The 50-year-old man was also charged with possessing an unregistered pistol.

They were all refused bail in court yesterday and will face the Downing Centre Local Court on April 23.
