Illinois: ICE Arrests Illegal Alien Working as Cop with Badge, Gun, and Pension

In a surprising turn of events in Hanover Park, Illinois, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended an undocumented immigrant who had been serving as a police officer. This individual, Radule Bojovic from Montenegro, was found to be carrying all the trappings of law enforcement: a badge, a gun, and even a pension.

Bojovic’s arrest is part of a broader ICE operation known as Operation Midway Blitz, which has already led to the detention of nearly 1,000 individuals in Illinois, a state known for its sanctuary policies. This particular case has raised eyebrows due to the unique circumstances of Bojovic’s employment.

Initially granted entry into the United States on a B-2 tourist visa, Bojovic was supposed to leave by the end of March 2015. However, he overstayed his visa and continued to reside in the country illegally. Despite his undocumented status, Bojovic managed to secure employment as a police officer in Hanover Park, a suburb of Chicago.

Tricia McLaughlin from the Department of Homeland Security expressed concern over the situation, stating, “Governor J.B. Pritzker doesn’t just allow violent illegal aliens to terrorize Illinois’s communities, he allows illegal aliens to work as sworn police officers.”

Earlier this year, Bojovic was granted approval by the Pension Board of Trustees, starting his career with an annual salary of approximately $79,000. ICE authorities have highlighted that his employment resulted in costs exceeding $205,000 for American taxpayers, including over $9,200 in FICA and Medicare taxes.

Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living illegally in the United States for 10 years — what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It’s a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A so-called law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law. [Emphasis added]

In January of this year, Bojovic was approved by the Pension Board of Trustees and his starting salary as a police officer was about $79,000 a year. ICE officials said Bojovic’s earnings this year cost American taxpayers more than $205,000, including more than $9,200 in FICA and Medicare taxes.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, ICE is restoring law and order. Criminal illegal aliens have no place in our communities, especially on our police forces,” McLaughlin said.
