President Donald Trump moved quickly Wednesday after a small child wandered toward the edge of a stage during his remarks in Nevada.
The moment unfolded at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, where Trump had invited a young Las Vegas couple to join him onstage and discuss how they said they have benefited from his “no tax on tips” and “no tax on overtime” policies, as well as the administration’s new Trump Accounts program for children.
The couple, identified as Sandra and Brad, came up with their two young children alongside them.
“That’s a beautiful family,” Trump said warmly, even appearing to offer a hand with one of the children while Sandra prepared to speak.
But as Sandra stepped to the podium, one of the toddlers suddenly darted toward the far side of the stage.
Trump, who is a father of five and grandfather of 11, spotted the boy’s move almost immediately.
The president took several quick steps toward the child, reached him, and guided him safely back toward the middle of the platform.
“I don’t want him to be Biden and fall off the stage,” Trump joked, taking an apparent swipe at former President Joe Biden’s widely covered stumble during the 2023 U.S. Air Force Academy graduation ceremony.
The lighthearted moment delighted the laughing and cheering crowd.
At the end of her remarks, Sandra picked up the young boy and told Trump that he wanted “to say a little something to you.”
“Thank you for my Trump Account,” the little boy said into the microphone, prompting another round of applause.
“Good job,” Trump beamed.
The president noted that Sandra, a Las Vegas casino waitress, and Brad, an officer with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, have “saved thousands of dollars” by taking advantage of the tax benefits included in the the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
“They’re investing their savings into Sandra’s education and Trump Accounts,” the commander-chief said.
The Trump administration is depositing $1,000 into the new IRA, tax-advantaged investment accounts for kids born between Jan. 1, 2025 and Dec. 31, 2028.
