WASHINGTON — President Trump on Monday publicly urged an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine after a wave of Ukrainian attacks on Moscow’s energy infrastructure sent diesel prices higher again.
“Russia has unfortunately lost control of its Diesel Oil Industry due to its War with Ukraine,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“A large number of their Diesel refineries have been blown up and are, at least temporarily, out of commission,” the president added. “This ridiculous and never ending War with Ukraine must be ended.”
“The whole World suffers as 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are being killed each month. What a shame!”
Trump is set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. The US president has repeatedly urged Ukraine to halt long-range drone strikes against Russian oil facilities, arguing that a pause would help stabilize global energy markets.
US diesel prices reached a record $6.51 per gallon as of Monday morning.
