In a grim discovery on Thursday afternoon, Jacksonville police responded to a call on Washington Street, where they found two young men in their 20s deceased.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the tragic incident took place in the Springfield neighborhood. Authorities were alerted to the situation when an unresponsive individual was reported behind a residence in the 800 block of Washington Street.
Upon arrival, police officers, alongside fire rescue teams, confirmed that two men were deceased at the location. The cause of death remains unclear, as no injuries were immediately apparent.
In response, both the homicide and crime scene units were deployed to conduct a thorough investigation. As of Thursday night, no information regarding potential suspects has been released. However, officials assure the public that there is no known threat to the community at this time.
