US CENTCOM says Iran is 'lying' about only targeting military bases

The United States Department of Defense has accused Iran of misleading claims about its military actions against the U.S. and Israel, alleging that Iran has not limited its attacks to military targets.

During a heated Security Council meeting, Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, asserted that Iran’s strikes have exclusively targeted U.S. military bases.

In response, the U.S. Central Command’s account on the social media platform X categorically refuted this claim, labeling it a “LIE.”

The U.S. Central Command stated that the Iranian regime has been actively targeting civilians, citing over a dozen attacks on various locations.

These targeted locations reportedly include airports in Dubai, Kuwait, and Iraq, a hotel in Bahrain, as well as residential areas in Tel Aviv and Qatar.

Images captured on Saturday afternoon depicted smoke rising from the vicinity of Dubai International Airport, highlighting the ongoing tensions.

Central Command also posted various videos showing the US’ attempts to neutralize the Iranian military.

‘The Iranian regime’s reckless use and proliferation of ballistic missiles have been a dangerous threat for decades. Now, at the President’s direction, U.S. forces are eliminating the threat,’ CENTCOM wrote.

Iravani told America to be ‘polite’ at the emergency meeting following Operation Epic Fury, which saw airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.

‘I have one word only,’ Iravani said, at the meeting in New York City on Saturday. ‘I advise to the representative of the United States to be polite.’

‘It will be better for yourself and the country you represented, thank you.’

US Ambassador Mike Waltz hit back at Iravani and said: ‘Frankly, I’m not going to dignify this with another response.’

‘Especially, as this representative sits here, in this body, representing a regime that has killed tens of thousands of its own people and imprisoned many more simply for wanting freedom from your tyranny,’ he concluded.

The tense meeting saw Iravani describe the war against Iran as one against international law and international legal order under the United Nations Charter.

‘This morning, the United States regime – jointly and in coordination with the Israeli regime – initiated an unprovoked and premeditated aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran for the second time in recent months,’ Iran’s ambassador said.

‘This is not only an act of aggression; it is a war crime and a crime against humanity,’ Iravani continued.

How should the world respond when civilians are caught in the crossfire of US-Iran-Israel conflicts?

‘The invocation to “preemptive attack”, claims of imminent threat, or other unsubstantiated political claims, are unfounded legally, morally and politically.’

The UN Security Council, charged with ensuring international peace and security is maintained, is comprised of 15 members, including five permanent members; China, France, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States.

US forces have killed 48 Iranian leaders and sank nine naval vessels, Donald Trump announced Sunday.

Three US service members were killed in the fighting. They have yet to be identified publicly.

Trump acknowledged that the three casualties were the first in his second term, as the January capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and the June bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities were pulled off without a single American death.

‘We’ve done pretty well,’ he noted, adding, ‘But they’re great people, with outstanding records, outstanding,’ the president exclusively told The Daily Mail Sunday.

Trump also revealed a potential timeline for the war with Iran – suggesting fighting could go on for the next four weeks.

‘It’s always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It’s always been about a four-week process so – as strong as it is, it’s a big country, it’ll take four weeks – or less,’ the president explained.

He said he hasn’t been surprised by any of the outcomes of the strikes thus far.

The President also claimed on his Truth Social platform that the Islamic Republic’s naval headquarters have been ‘largely destroyed’ and bullishly promised to ‘go after the rest’.

Trump’s post comes after the US military earlier announced that three service members have been killed in action – with a further five seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed to have attacked a US aircraft carrier in revenge for the killing of the country’s Supreme Leader, but US Central Command later said the missiles ‘didn’t even come close’.

The Islamic Republic did however launch successful drone attacks across the Middle East today, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia all hit.

This morning Iran raised its so-called ‘Red Flag of Revenge’ and vowed to hit the US and Israel with a ‘force never experienced before’.

US and Israeli airstrikes continued to rain down on the Iranian capital for the second day as the country’s president branded the killing of the country’s Supreme Leader a ‘declaration of war against Muslims’.
