South Carolina law enforcement is actively investigating to identify the person or people responsible for a mass shooting that left 11 injured on Sunday evening in Little River, close to North Myrtle Beach.
The Horry County Police Department reported that the incident was isolated and resulted from a conflict on a charter boat during a private Memorial Day celebration. At the time of the shooting, approximately 124 individuals, including four crew members, were present on the boat, according to Horry County police at a press briefing on Tuesday.
Three victims are still hospitalized while eight have been released, authorities said during the press conference.
“Such acts of violence are not acceptable in Horry County,” stated HCPD Chief Kris Leonhardt. “We are committed to thoroughly investigating this matter and pursuing criminal charges against those responsible for this disturbance in our county.”

Video footage obtained from a witness apparently shows the incident, and authorities determined that “the discharge was from the wounded Officer’s rifle,” and the scene was released to SLED.
Horry County police said the shooting remains under investigation, and “there is currently no associated risk to the community.”
Crime concerns in and around Myrtle Beach have been heightened since April 26, when a shooting in the Myrtle Beach entertainment district left the shooter dead and 11 victims injured. Myrtle Beach officials described the shooting as an isolated incident at the time.
