Southwest Philadelphia shooting: Boy, 11, shoots, kills mother's boyfriend during altercation between the couple, police say

PHILADELPHIA — According to Pennsylvania authorities, an 11-year-old has been accused of shooting and killing his mother’s boyfriend amid a domestic dispute.

Around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a distress call from the 1100 block of Peach Street in Southwest Philadelphia.

Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel discovered a 30-year-old man on the bedroom floor, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

He was declared dead shortly thereafter, and officials have identified him as Jaimeer Jones-Walker from Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.

Police reports indicate that Jones-Walker had arrived at his girlfriend’s home, where she lives with her children, and began physically attacking her in the bedroom.

In response to the assault, the woman’s young son allegedly retrieved her firearm and shot Jones-Walker, according to law enforcement.

Sources tell our Philadelphia sister station, 6ABC Action News, this started as an argument over the couple’s newborn baby, who is still in the hospital.

Police say the girlfriend, who lives on this block with her children, and her boyfriend were fighting over visitation and the confrontation turned violent.

The firearm was recovered by police at the scene.

Police say both the boy and his mother are cooperating with detectives and being interviewed by the homicide unit.

Officials are looking into whether there has been a history of domestic incidents where police have been called to the residence.

The incident remains under investigation. It’s not yet known if anyone will be charged.
